SIMONE | Adjustable Long Chain Bar Pendant Necklace | Solidarity Collection
A tribute one of the earliest feminist thinkers, Simone de Beauvoir, this adjustable long chain bar pendant necklace is handcrafted in sterling silver and is a symbol of critical thinking and activism. The chain adjusts to three different lengths to suit a variety of necklines and preferences. Wear a reminder of your power to make a difference in this world.
The point is not for women simply to take power out of men’s hands, since that wouldn’t change anything about the world. It’s a question precisely of destroying that notion of power. – Simone de Beauvoir
Named after the French writer, extensionist philosopher, and women’s rights activist, Simone de Beauvoir. Born in Paris, France in 1908, Simone laid the foundation for the modern feminist movement. She authored one of the earliest and most important works of feminism, The Second Sex, which was published in 1949.
This has always been a man’s world, and none of the reasons that have been offered in explanation have seemed adequate. – Simone de Beauvoir
Simone is recognized as one of the greatest thinkers of the modern feminist movement and it is absurd to find that it took until 2009 for a reasonably faithful and unedited English version of her book, The Second Sex, to be published.
The emancipation of women must be the work of women themselves, independent of the class struggle. – Simone de Beauvoir
